Congo Basin Institute Club At UCLA

Our club’s main goal is to work with the Congo Basin Institute (CBI), a center of higher learning and scientific excellence in Central Africa. CBI’s mission is “to find integrative breakthrough solutions that conserve the environment and meet the vital needs of the developing world”. The purpose of our multifaceted club is to provide support for CBI by forming a cross cultural collaboration between UCLA students, Cameroonian students, and the indigenous people, promoting awareness of CBI and assisting in its work with indigenous populations in Cameroon and conservation of biodiversity, fundraising for a variety of projects at CBI, and creating a program that provides UCLA students the opportunity to conduct hands-on research at the CBI campus in Cameroon, Africa with CBI students and researchers, and the indigenous people on a variety of research topics.
